David Joseph Del Grande is a freelance reporter and communications specialist based in the Tucson-metro area. He graduated from the University of Arizona, majoring in journalism with a focus on conflict reporting in the Middle East. Del Grande was a staff writer for the Arizona Jewish Post throughout his college career. During the summer of 2017, he was a breaking news intern at NJ.com, and had some of his work appear in the New York Times. As a UA freshman, he spent seven months as an apprentice at the Arizona Daily Star’s city government desk. He won third place for Best Feature Story at the Arizona Newspapers Association 2017 Better Newspapers Contest. His investigative work as news editor for the Aztec Press—Pima Community College’s student publication—earned him first place in Community Education Reporting at the 2014 Arizona Press Club Awards.
